As one of the hairstyling industry's rising stars, David Barnett has achieved elite status in London, New York and Chicago. And now he has set his well-honed sites on Sonoma County. With his wife Nicole Barnett, last year David launched BRUSH Salon on Healdsburg's downtown plaza.
The career arc that led David to open the shop is star-studded. He worked as the lead stylist for the MTV Movie Awards. He sharpened his shears on the Grammy Awards and SPIKE TV, and he pulled down the British Hairdressing Awards' "Artistic Team of the Year" 10 years in a row.
After conquering the United Kingdom, Barnett brought his talents in 2004 to New York City, where he served as the educational director and lead stylist at the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman. There he worked with a slew of "A List" stars including Charlize Theron, Eva Mendes and Andrea Bocelli.
With all this cred and momentum, why switch gears to Healdsburg? See the article |

...the haircut and blowout by creative director David Barnett, who-formerly of the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf
Goodman in NYC-is a god with scissors and absolutely needs no
instruction except "make it look good" (and has a cute Welsh accent
to boot). |

In honor of our travel issue, we ask: What would be your dream vacation this winter?
"I'm actually taking my
dream vacation. I've just won
the Davines [Italian beauty
products] competition for a
hair style I created. I was the
only stylist from the U.S.
chosen to go to the Grand
Finals in Venice! My fiance
(she's also the model!) and
myself are going on October
9 for five nights in a five-star
hotel. They have all sorts of
fun, cool things going on like a
Venetian Masquerade Ball, and
there's a really famous art fair
on that weekend."

The Mane Attraction
WHO: David Barnett, 33 CLAIM TO FAME: Barnett began his career at London's Toni & Guy and was recently educational director at the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman in New York. IN HIS CLOSET: Barnett's professional suit-and-tie look gives way to weekend Levi's and T-shirts, which he accessorizes with a Rolex and Gucci dog tags. But he takes the casual thing only so far: "I never wear tennis shoes unless I'm working out" says the runner, who is training for the Chicago Marathon. |
